EMT Certification & Recertification
  1. Successfully complete an EMT program.
  2. Obtain an approved CPR card.
  3. Obtain your National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certificate.
  4. Have a valid CA driver's license.
  5. Complete a Live Scan background check
  6. Complete SLO EMSA EMT application.
  7. Pay $100 application fee.
  1. Complete both pages of a SLO EMSA EMT application. The second page is for you to use as a checklist to ensure your application is
    complete with all require materials and certificates.
  2. Have valid CPR card
  3. Complete a Skills Verification Form.
  4. Have a valid CA driver's license.
  5. Complete 24 hours of CE, or a 24 hour EMT refresher course
  6. After July 1st, 2019, complete an approved EMT training in epinephrine auto-injector, naloxone, and finger stick glucometer
  7. Livescan background check is NOT required IF certification has been previously done through County of SLO EMS Agency
  8. Pay $62 application fee (if not previously certified through County of SLO re-certification candidate must pay initial fee).
  9. Packet must be submitted by email (mgroves@co.slo.ca.us) Following receipt of an emailed application you will be called for payment.

FAQ page
To ensure all recertification's for active EMT's are completed on time, please turn in completed packet with
all necessary attachments at least 3-4 weeks prior to your expiration date listed on your current EMT card.
***For all Re-Certifying EMT'S*** Please use the link below to complete the required Title 22 Epinephrine/Naloxone/Glucometer
training if you have not done so with your Agency.
A certificate of completion is mandatory and required when you submit
your packet for review
